Ruriá Duprat is a Brazilian conductor, arranger, composer, music producer and pianist. He studied at the Berklee College of Music - on a full scholarship through legendary producer and musician Quincy Jones - and has written and produced music for 17 feature films.

 As a pianist, Ruriá has appeared at numerous jazz festivals in Europe and the U.S. In Brazil, he has performed for a number of household names, such as Lenine, Gilberto Gil, Seu Jorge, Tom Zé, Arnaldo Antunes, Anitta, Maria Rita, Frejat, Michel Teló, Ed Motta, Adriana Calcanhotto, Chico Cezar, Elba Ramalho, Preta Gil, Lulu Santos, Vanessa da Mata, Marlui Miranda, Pitty, Carlinhos Brown, Daniel, Renato Teixeira, Toninho Horta, among others.

Nephew of one of the most celebrated Brazilian maestros of all times, Rogério Duprat, Ruriá has arranged for several orchestras worldwide and in his home country, where he composed arrangements for the Sao Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (OSESP), Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira, Sao Paulo’s Jazz Sinfônica, Orquestra Experimental de Repertório, Orquestra Petrobrás, Orquestra CSN, among others. Among the international orchestra projects he has been involved in include the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre National des Pays de La Loire, for which he wrote concerto pieces performed by French soprano Patricia Petibon and the Orchestre National d’Île de France, for which he wrote a concert performed by Brazilian singer-songwriter Lenine and a choir with 1,400 singers, at Le Zenith, in Paris.

Additionally, Mr. Duprat performed as an arranger, conductor and pianist on Lenine’s “MTV Unplugged” album, which received a Latin Grammy in the Best Contemporary Pop Album category, in 2007. As well as having worked with such international names as Stanley Jordan, Angelique Kidjo, Ray Lema and Jane Monheit, most notably, he served as artistic director and conductor at the live performances for Diana Krall’s 2009 international DVD release, “Live in Rio”.

Also in 2009, Ruriá was the Grammy Award winner, in the Best Contemporary Jazz Album category, as producer, artistic director, arranger, and pianist, for the album “Randy in Brasil”, which he himself helped idealize. The album was released in the U.S., European and Asian markets and was recorded and mixed at his own recording studios – Banda Sonora – in São Paulo, Brazil.

In 2015, Duprat produced, arranged and conducted the orchestra in the album LOVE, with the Ron Carter Quartet, featuring Vitória Maldonado. He was invited to be the curator and the chairman of the board of the Samsung e- festivals – song and instrumental.

In 2016 and 2017, he was awarded with 5 Lions in the Cannes Lions Advertising Festival, with works created for Coca Cola and IBM.

In 2017, he also wrote arrangements for Placido Domingo’s international tour.

Since 2015, he has been working as the Curator and Artistic Director of the Samsung e- Festival Instrumental in Brazil, with over 1,000 participants per year.

And since 2016, Duprat has been working as the Musical Artistic Coordenation for Andrea Bocelli’s Brazilian tour.

Also in 2018, the feature film “Lino, An Adventure in 9 Lives”, an animation by FOX, became the most watched Brazilian Animation Feature Film of all time, and it’s been shown in 62 countries. Duprat composed and produced the Orchestral Score and coordinated with his staff, all aspects concerning the sound of the film, from Original Voice to Music, from Sound Effects to Final Mixing.
